About Procurement Pricing Specialist

Our client is an Australian-based company with a global presence in Asia and the US, specialising in comprehensive supply chain solutions. They offer freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and innovative 3PL warehousing solutions. We’re seeking a skilled Procurement Pricing Specialist to join our client’s team in Melbourne. This role involves optimising procurement processes through competitive pricing, favourable negotiations, and building strong supplier relationships. Responsibilities include managing international and domestic rates and playing a vital role in RFQ and tender processes. The ideal candidate should be a strategic thinker with strong analytical and negotiation skills, focused on achieving cost savings while upholding quality standards.

About the role:

Price Negotiation:
Oversee negotiations for Named Accounts (NAC) and Block Service Agreement (BSA) freight, collaborating with key stakeholders. Responsibilities include securing competitive rates, analysing cost structures for potential savings, and establishing long-term agreements aligned with organizational objectives. The role also involves supporting RFQ and tender processes through data analysis and response preparation.
International Freight Products: 
Collaborate with the National Sales Manager to implement Freight of all Kind (FAK) and Air freight consolidation programs, ensuring rates align with product requirements. Additionally, it supports the analysis and preparation of sales campaign pricing to enhance overall pricing strategies in the organization.

Cost Analysis:
Evaluate supplier proposals, contracts, and quotations, conducting thorough cost analyses to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand budget constraints and cost expectations.

Market Research:
Stay updated on market trends and conduct regular research to identify potential suppliers, benchmark pricing, and provide strategic recommendations based on market insights
Relationship Management
Build strong relationships with key suppliers, collaborate seamlessly with internal teams, including sourcing and logistics, and promptly resolve pricing discrepancies or issues to ensure efficient procurement processes.
Contract Management:
Develop and manage supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with terms, pricing structures, and service level agreements. They vigilantly monitor contract performance, promptly addressing any deviations or non-compliance to maintain effective and aligned partnerships.

Continuous Improvement:
Implement process improvements within the procurement function, streamlining pricing processes and contributing proactively to the development of policies and procedures for enhanced efficiency.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement and pricing analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with procurement software and tools.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Essential:

  • Freight forwarding experience and established networks and contacts.
  • Strong International freight Procurement experience
  • Goal and target-driven
  • Self-motivated.
  • Strong communicator (verbal and written).
  • Computer literate with proficiency in various relevant software.
